Well like Im sure like most of you, we have had our share of sickness here but, I guess tis the season. And to be very honest this winter has been AWESOME as far as weather!

This Saturday is an exciting day in our house, 1) because I have a doctor appt and the girls are coming with to see there new baby bro/or sis on the ultrasound, but we wont be finding out which yet :))! and 2) Hannah is having her very 1st sleep over for her 6th birthday, she has invited two girls to stay the night and I have an exciting night of FUN planned. Alivia will also have a first, she is spending the night at a friends house that night as well for the first time ever. So its a big weekend for my girls! I'll post pic of baby higgins next week.

Well to be honest I'm feeling a little over whelmed!   But nothing that I know I can't handle with God in the lead.  In some ways I feel like this is my first child again, Im excited all over again. Its been my hearts desire to have another child for the last year, but Gods timing is best even when I try to plan it all out myself.   But as quickly as finding out we are expecting our next blessing, my hormones kicked in and Im flooded with feelings of needing to get many things done before he/she comes.   One big project is homeschooling!   I have been praying, learning, researching, and preparing for this new adventure that will forever change our lives for along time and it appear we will be having our lives changed in two ways come August.   Very Exciting! But the best way I can describe how I feel right now is over whelmed in good way I think.  These feeling are forcing me to lean on my Lord and Saviour and trust HIM, that we will be provided for and taken care of through this all.    We have such wonderful family all around near and far, that love and support us and it makes me extremely greatful and blessed.
While the cares of the world can sometimes over take me and we can almost get into to much of a routine, and forget our focus, right now in my life I feel that I am doing what God wants me to be doing, being a Godly wife and mother and raising my children to walk with the Lord, know that Jesus loves them so much, and trying to be set apart from the world, so that we might be a light in the darkness.
Feeling sick lately has been a little difficult, I haven't been motivated to do much except just through the day taking care of all my kiddos and trying to not fall to behind in house work.   The girls and Chris haven't been getting to many cooked suppers, being that everything just about makes me nauseous.   Im  praying that the feeling of sick will pass with the 1st trimester and I'll be back to myself and ready to get started on all my winter/spring projects!   I'll keep ya' posted!

I've had people tell me lately that Hannah looks alot like me, but when I came across this picture of myself as a child, I was amazed at how similar we look!

Chris and I took Smokie in as a stray in 2004, he was this little mangy cat that we fell in love with. At the time we already has Silas and we weren't planning to get another cat, but he showed up and we even tried to take him to the pound, but ended up adopting him right back the next day. Despite his poor litter box use, he was such an awesome cat. He put up with the kids doing just about anything to him, he made us laugh when he would try and crawl into just about bag or box laying around as you can see in some of the pictures. He loved to snuggle (especially with me). Because of his peeing in the house we kept him outside alot of the time, but he still got to come in once a day for a while and he really enjoyed being an outside cat, watching the birds and squirrels. He was probably chasing a squirrel in the street when he got hit. This was really sudden and I my heart hurts right now. I know this is what comes with having pets, but he was part of our family so as silly as it may seem to some, I am grieving for him...... Chris and I barried him in the back yard with Silas. I love you Smokie, Im so glad you were part of our family for 8 years.

Well evidently we totally skipped September, because it's already October 3rd!!!! I continue to be a horrible blogger, but I dont think to many people read this anyway, and those who do, I talk to a on a regular basis.

I'll blame not posting things as much on not having a very good camera. :) The girls are growing like crazy, I think Hannah is going to be tall, her legs seem really long lately, she definetly doesn't look anything like she did her first year life, for those of you who know she was quite a chunk, and I loved every roll of her !

See I told ya!~

They are are both enjoying Preschool, and Dance class, and going to church twice a week. We all got to go to the house of some friends from church who have a horse and the girls were probably more excited than I've ever seen them, Hannah actually woke up like 2 hours earlier that morning in anticipation of the evening. They go to ride, and help saddle and brush and feed the horse. It was a very special fun night and we felt pretty blessed to have friends that would let us come do this. The girls seem to be in phase right now where they love to dress like, pretend to be cowgirls and are wanting to play horses 24/7. Our couches are saddled daily on each end and they pretend they are riding their horses. It secretly makes Chris and I want to live in the country just so we could get them a horse, its pretty precious! So you can probably guess what they will dressed like for our church Hallelujah party!

Lets see, well I got in trouble today for not telling my sissy that Hannah has now lost two teeth on the bottom and actually the permanent ones are already poked partly through. The two on top are pretty lose so, Hannah might be asking for her two front teeth for Christmas!

I'm already gearing up for homeschooling next year, getting my curriculum picked out, purchasing what books I'll need and we are going to all work on getting our school room painted and organized this winter. Hannah is excited and that makes me excited too!

So that was a lot of randomness, but that whats up with us!

Hannah lost her very 1st tooth yesterday ! She has been wiggling it for several weeks now and she finally pulled it out. She wasn't real excited at first, I think it sort of freaked her out seeing the tooth in her hand, and seeing a little blood. She actually told me she wanted me to put it back in, she wasn't ready to loose her

teeth yet :) We didn't promise money or a tooth fairy, but I told her she could pick something special to have as her treat. She picked brownies and ice-cream!

Do I really have a 5 and 3 year old? Sometimes I feel like a spend so much time just getting through the day, that Im not taking time to enjoy my kids growing and changing. I was almost in tears the other day just watching a video of Hannah when she was like 2, and Alivia seemed like she did everything in such a hurry that she wasn't a baby for very long, I guess Im struggling with a little guilt/regret or something that I've taken for granted this time Im suppose to be spending with them. What is my job, in what order? Servant of God, wife, mother, babysitter? Am I walking with one foot in the world, one foot in the spirit? Am I listening to what God is showing me? Lord help me be self-less, not selfish! I KNOW that Apart from YOU, that my life would have absolutley NO meaning!

Hannah is so observant ,and sensative, and imaginative. I'm really looking forward to our first year of homeschooling to be just her and I. This next school year, Hannah and Alivia will both go to Preschool (Hannah's 3rd year), then Fall of 2012, I will be done with daycare, Alivia will do 5 day Preschool and it will be Hannah and I. Chris and I both worried that being in "Preschool" for 3 years, then coming home to homeschool would bother Hannah, and she has asked a few times, why she doesn't get to go to school like her friends? But Im basically telling her that God is blessing us with the opportunity to homeschool. And that she is still getting to learn like her friends, she just gets to do it at home with a little more freedom. Doing this has been a desire of my heart since before she was born, I know that it is not for everyone, and I have no judgement toward anyone who chooses not to.

I would like to involve Hannah as much as she wants, in school activities. One blessing is that Iowa is one of few states that allows easily for homeschoolers to dual enroll and we are allowed to be as involved as we want to. Im not planning to at this point but for example I could even just send her to school for lunch and recess if I wanted to. Im a little anxious, but excited because it is finally getting to the point that its not just an idea for when she gets older, its a reality. I am going to be a homeschooling Mom, we are going to be a homeschooling family. I have done alot of PRAYING, researching, talking with many homeschooling Moms/families, read alot books, studied the laws, and I have spend a lot time talking to Hannah about it. Chris and I are in one accord with this decision. Another blessing is that we have several homeschooling families in this area, and at our church, so I dont feel alone or really akward at all when I tell people that Im homechooling my kids. Im fully aware that with this decision we are going to have up and downs, we are going to make mistakes, but we are going to do this as a family. I believe this journey will not only bring us closer as a family, but it will strengthen all of our relationships with God. Im sure there are going to be times, when I think to myself "what Im I doing"?, but Precious Lord you gave me these children, and I want to honor YOU by stepping out of my comfort box and trusting You to lead me in this decision.

Ok so this is a total Mom brag, but Im very proud of her. Yesterday Alivia was drawing on the magnadoodle and I asked her if she wanted to write her name. So I just said the letters of her name in order one by one and this ishow she wrote it completley on her own. I knew she could write an A and L but was pleasantly suprised she could write the I an V as well.

We just returned from a week in Texas with my sister and her family. It was a total blast! I really needed to get away and just have a week off of daycare and the day to day stuff and just spend time together.   I got to spend some quality time with my sister (whom I hadn't seen in a YEAR) and I got to spend time with my cutie pie nieces.   Chris spent alot of time on the computer watching baseball (it was opening weekend of regular season), but he was always willing to watch the kids, so Angie and I could go escape for a while and have sister time. The kids had fun together, we are starting to see personalities come out in how they play together, we sort of let the routine/bedtimes go out the window too, which made for some pretty tired and cranky kids by the end of the week, but it was worth it!

Back to reality in Clarinda, Ia! We are approaching the end of the Preschool year, Hannah will move on to the 5 day a week program at the Preschool, I've had mixed emotions of whether to start her homeschooling this next school year which would be on track with "kindergarden" and her age, but I really like what our 5 day a week teacher is doing with her kids and I think she would benefit from one more year of Preschool and then the Fall of 2012 I will begin her homeschooling.     Hannah has also been busy with dance classes this year and seems to really enjoy it.   She has also shown interest in Girl Scouts, as she was invited by one of her older friends to visit a girls scouts meeting.     I dont to burn her out, so we'll see about that next year.   She is very excited for summer, so she can swim, play outside, and get Kool Kats.

Alivia will be 3 in two weeks!   My baby isn't a baby any more.   She is really wanting to do everything sister does. She will be able to start Preschool in the Fall, so I like that Hannah and her will be attending at the same time some days.

Chris is still working at CCF, 10pm-6am, I think he is starting to miss being up during the day and having a normal life, but this is the shift that works the best for all of us.   He's looking forward to doing some golfing this spring/summer.   We both got our fishing licences yester day and we plan on taking the girls fishing as much as we can.

Im am still doing daycare. I am very busy with that, but it has been an excellent way for me to stay at home with the girls, but still make some money.   I only plan to do daycare until Fall 2012.   I really enjoy all the kids i have and the girls most of the time like having so many playmates, but I think I will be ready to give it up and start spending more one on one with my girls, when I start there home schooling.

Hopefully I'll be better about posting more,but I just do not have time to sit down and do this most of the time.

Chris and I went to "The Christmas Carol" play in Omaha a week before Christmas, it was a great production and we enjoyed having a date night out of town.

Christmas eve we attended our church Christmas Eve service, then came home to open gifts with the girls, as we we're not sure if Chris would have to work Christmas eve night or not, they were blessed with many new things. Christmas Day the girls and I just got up and lounged aroud, played with new toys and such and then we went to Chris's Mom and Dad's Christmas afternoon to celebrate. The girls are enjoying all their new things and so are Chris and I. We are looking foward to having the Grimes side of the family here (my house) for News Years Day to celebrate again!

Wow is summer really almost over?!!!

Well Hannah will start Preschool again Wednesday the 25th, the original plan was for her to go 5 days a week this year, but plans have changed and for various reasons, we are doing 3 days a week again this year and we will do 5 days a week next year.   So I guess that means that Alivia and Hannah will both be in Preschool next year together!

I have a full schedule of daycare this year all of them being part time except for 1 that will be 5 days a week for 8 hours, but in total I am watching 8 kiddos at various times throughout the week of course not counting my own.  It's amazing how in demand in home daycare is right now, I have turned down several. I will probably only do this for another couple years, and then once Hannah is done with her 5 day Preschool I will start her homeschooling full time, which I am very excited and slightly nervous about.

Hannah attended bible school at the first baptist church a few weeks ago and had a BLAST! Alivia will be old enough to go next year.   All in all we have had a great summer of vacation, swimming, Kool Kats, Fair, Children's Museum, going to the park, going on walks, and playing outside!  Pictures of all this is to come, when I actually sit down and upload the pictures :)

Hannah was pretty skeptical about whether she wanted to participate in T-ball but ended up really liking it. Their first two games were rained out, so she ended up only playing in two games, but she had fun and at least got an idea of what the basics are of t-ball.

WOW! My last post was in April?   Well I dont think to many people read this so I don't think Im disappointing anyone.

Probably the most exciting things going on in the Higgins House right now are (1) Alivia is potty training (not as easy as I thought she'd be, considering she's been going on the potty since she was 18mths, but I guess since I'm done with diapers now and she in panties all day, she's forgetting to tell me alot, but it's just as much work for me as her and Im not always on top of my game)    (2) Hannah and Alivia are now sharing a room. They shared Hannah's room the night of Relay for Life, since Darin and Katy were sleeping in Liv's room and ever since she hasn't wanted to go back to her room.   Hannah has had no problem with it either, in fact Hannah doesn't ask to sleep in our room anymore.   So last night I made it official and moved Liv's bed into Hannah's room and they were, to put it lightly, very excited about the arrangment.   I figure if they are wanting to, I might as well go with it. (3) Hannah has her first T-ball game on Saturday (the first two were cancelled due to rain) and she did pretty good, better than expected considering her shyness. She'll only play one more game, but at least it gave her an idea of what it is, and how to play, and most of all she had fun! No swim lesson's this year because "Mommy" was to slow to get her signed up and they all filled up, but she doesn't really fear the water and can do most of the things they teach them in the lessson anyway.

As far as I'm concered, Im still doing Daycare part-time this summer.   Im not as busy as I was during the school year. I call myself more of a drop-in daycare. The girls and I are still pretty free to go and do as we please.

Chris works night 10p to 6a with Monday and Tuesday nights off, so thats his schedule, he sleeps during the day and gets up to be with us around 3p everyday. He's been working alot of over time this summer already, but thats always nice, so that we can do those little summer projects on the house.

We went to Branson for family vacation May 21st-May 27th. It was alot of fun, but it sure wore me out and of course it's more expensive that you plan for........ (Im voting for somewhere cheaper and closer next year, we'll see if Chris goes for it)

We are heading to Swisher/North Liberty the 2nd week of July to visit family!

Other than that we are hanging out here and swimming ALOT!!!!!!

Thanks to the best neighbors ever, the girls now have a small garden in our back yard, that they will be able to take care of. Dennis and Julia Cavin are our next back yard neighbors and while cutting back some dead areas of a bush that we share, Julia came up with the ideas to plants some flowers with the girls and let them take care of it. Julia just happens to be Hannah's Preschool teacher, eventually Alivia's as well and I guess you could say she has a special attachment to the girls (kinda like honorary grandma and grandpa). So Since stink at ever having anything to say or post on here, I thought this was blog worthy! Im excited for them to take care of it and show ownership to it and learn a sence of responsibility. And of course it's always fun to get dirty!

Wow! Where did January go? I just realized I haven't posted anything since Christmas......So what has the Higgins Family been up too lately?

Hmmm, we've all stayed pretty healthy since Thanksgiving when we all got bad colds and infections of sorts. Hannah goes to Preschool 3 days a week and basically still loves it, she had a short phase of not wanting to go , but I think it was more drama for mama than anything else. Hannah will be 4 in a month (Holy Cow)! She seems to be growing up and looking so big these days, her contaious laugha and sensativity make me smile daily. She is quite a Daddys girls too these days, but still wants Mommy for those certain things. Alivia, well she's actully 21mths today! Liv, well she is EXTREME, I dont know how else to say it, she has such a personality of highs and lows and loves life to the fullest, she defenetly has a temper and stubburness in her that (Ihave know idea where she got it)! but she loves people and doesn't mind showing it.

ME well, I do daycare in my home, ranging from ages and they are all part timers, so every day is different. It keeps me very busy,but I feel blessed to be able to stay at home, and lately I feel my ministry is helping out other Moms, with there kids. The girls love to have someone to play with and believe it or not it makes me appreciate when it's just me and my own! We love spending time as a family!

We have a party at our church every year at this time! This is the first year Hannah has dressed up and she is very into Ballerina's right now, so of course that is what she wanted to dress like. The kids had fun with games,pinata, hayride and of course lots of candy! It was a blessed, fun night!

Just in case you wonder how I spend my days........I am very lucky to have some wonderful kids to watch throughout the week!

I don't usually have them all at once, but this particular day I did so I took my chance to snap a picture! In this pictures is DaNea and Carter Larson, Hannah, Avery Walter, Alivia, and Taylin Walter.

The 3 little ones, are all within 3-4 months of each other ranging from 16-20mths!
It's crazy sometimes, but they are all great kids and I love being able to stay at home with my kids and help other parents out as well. The girls love having kids to play with!

Chris's 30th Birthday!

Chris turned 30 this year on September 17th! I planned a few suprises for him, one being Royals tickets. Royals played Boston Red Sox and the Royals won the game 5 to 1, it was a great game with great weather!

We also had a suprise party/BBQ for Chris and I asked a few of his buddies to come suprise him later that night with a little guitar playing and fellowship (I took the girls somewhere else so they had the house to themselves!) He said he had a great time!

Hannah's 1st Day of Preschool!

Hannah's First Day of Preschool she woke up a little groggy since she not used to getting up very early, but soon was ready to get dressed, she didn't mind me doing her hair and said she wanted toast with butter and milk for breakfast (she normally a cereal eater but I didn't argue:) Daddy stayed awake long enough to take her to school. DaNea a girl I babysit was here too for me to take to the 5 day class. Hannah has been wanting to go to Preschool since she went to take DaNea last year, we have even had a Princess School bag or almost a year by request from her insisting that she go to school as soon as she turned 3. "I've waited a long time to go"! she says. I was nervous for her and excited for her, surprisingly not extremely sad. When we got to the classroom she knew just what to do! She immediately took her bag to her cubby hole with her name and started playing.. I wasn't expecting a dramatic scene, or anything. She gave Chris and I both hug and kiss and said bye and went back to playing. When I picked her up she gave me a hug but just seemed like it was no big deal.. I was secretly sad she wasn't more excited to see me but that's OK I know love she loves me. Her teacher reported that she did very well, she participated, communicated with her teacher and class and cooperated when told what to do. She is yet to tell me what exactly they did for 3 hours, but maybe when she's not distracted with DaNea here, she will be more talkative ( I hope)! I think she is experiencing some new independence that I'm happy about and honestly sad about! My sweet baby girl is starting to act so big.

This girl was the only other girl there on the first night and her name is Hannah also, so they became great friends the two "Hannah's"

No stage fright this night, she was up there before any of the other kids ready to praise God!

Hannah attended the Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church this week. The theme of the week was Crocodile Rock. It was from 6-8:30p each night. They learned scripture, sang songs, made crafts, ate snacks, and played games. The first night Hannah was very timid, shy and not real sure what to think, she didn't want to leave my lap, but she reluctantly went with her preschool class........ each night. Each night she got a little better and as you can see from the pictures and videos she had a blast and by the last couple days she was running in the doors to her seat and telling us to go sit somewhere else! Mommy was a little emotional at first but Im so glad she had a good time and was able to take part in this fun week. My first baby is a big girl now!

Left Hand

Sometime Saturday Hannah apparently got bit by something, we think a spider and by Sunday her hand, wrist and arm began to swell. We gave her Benadryl Sunday night decided to see what it looked like Monday morning, and by Monday morning I was calling the doctor. We went to see the doctor Monday morning, and he says it was probably a spider bite and it was in the beginning stages of infection. He prescribed antiobitics and told us to just watch it. These pics were actually taken Monday night after the swelling had gone down alot. Im happy to report now that nothing is swollen and there is very little evidence that she was even bit. The power of prayer!!! Thank you Lord!

You have 6 new grandkids now, in only 4 years, I know where your at and who your with, I just miss you, Im sad that my kids didn't get to know their grandma Dian. I'd never wish you to leave where you are to come back here, but my heart wants you here with us........ someday we will see you again.

Our Cat Silas died unexpectly on Saturday, he was our baby before the girls came along. He was Chris and I's first pet when we first got married. We are all heartbroken and shocked. Silas was a great cat and I wish he could have lived longer. The girls really enjoyed him and it's been hard explaining to a 3 year old why Silas is barried in the back yard now. We love you Silas!
